When you think about your food, how often do you think about the ingredients that go into it? If you’re anything like me, the answer is often. Every Double Take Salsa product is the result of a lot of near-obsessive planning, research, and experimentation. This extends to our line of hot sauces, too, which is why I’m going to tell you a little more about the Carolina Reaper pepper, used – you guessed it! – in our Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce (available from our online store here.)

I promise I’m not trying to scare you away from our Carolina Reaper hot sauce. In fact, I’m here to do just the opposite. The pepper made headlines back in 2013 when Guinness World Records declared it the world’s hottest chile. It was developed by a man named Ed Currie from the PuckerButt Pepper Company (seriously) who spent 10 years perfecting its heat and flavor. As Bon Appetit notes, the pepper scores 1,569,300 on the Scoville heat-measuring scale – a habanero typically ranges from 100,000 to 350,000 units. But seriously, don't fear the Reaper.

Heat always comes second at Double Take Salsa, meaning our Carolina Reaper hot sauce is packed full of complex flavor.  I really enjoy using it on eggs and warm sandwiches. (If you’re feeling adventurous, just drink it. We won’t stop you.) Stop by our online store or any of our local retailers and pick up a bottle for the daring heat junkie in your life; they’ll thank you.

Oh, and make sure to buy one for yourself.
